San Benito Abad is a municipality in the province of Sucre, located in the northern part of Colombia. The town is named after Saint Benedict, the patron saint of Europe, and is famous for its colorful festivals and cultural heritage. It has a population of over 30,000 people, who predominantly speak Spanish and are engaged in agriculture, fishing, and trading. San Benito Abad is also home to the Ciénaga de San Juan, one of the largest wetlands in Colombia, which is known for its rich biodiversity and rare aquatic species. The town is located about 328 km from the capital city of Bogotá and can be reached by road or air transport.
